Balesin Island is a tropical island and barangay off the Philippines‘ eastern coast of Luzon, 60 nautical miles east of Manila. It is located in Lamon Bay and operated as part of Polillo, Quezon municipality.

There is also the 14-suite Balesin Royal Villa, located on a bluff overlooking Lamon Bay and the Sierra Madre Mountains, at a distance on the mainland. It takes the best of the Asian royal heritage carefully crafted and blends into something unique.

Balesin Island, located in Polilion, is a 424-hectare island resort operated by Alpha Land, just a 25-minute flight away from Manila. It faces and acts as an entrance into Lamon Bay, 40.2 kilometers from Luzon’s east coast. The bay is a whole water piece in the Pacific that constitutes a significant sanctuary for marine life.

The length of Balesin Island is approximately 5 km, while its maximum width is about 1.5 kilometers. In general, this area is almost understandable, with only a few elevated areas such as cliffs, which reach a height of 5 m above sea level.

Balesin has seven villages planned carefully to represent some of the most beautiful destinations in the world. Balesin Village provides a glimpse of luxury island life with private villas on a white sandy seafront. Modeled after a nipa hut, each villa displays all modern comforts of Filipino traditional architecture.

If you want to visit Asia, take a look at Bali Village. You will see that every villa’s roof looks like a roundabout, the traditional Asian farmer’s hat. If you want a more romantic and reclusive location, stay in one of the Bali Water Villas, which offers a beautiful view of the sunset in Balesin. You can also try Phuket Village, the structures of which have several roof levels and pointy finishes reminiscent of large Thai temples.

Take your pick from Mykonos, St. Tropez, Costa del Sol, and Tuscany if you are ready for a European adventure. The classic blue and white designed villas of Mykonos make you feel cool, calm, and relaxed after those of the Greek island while you can feel like living on the French Riviera thanks to the lively exteriors of St. Tropez. 

You will feel at Costa del Sol like you are lounging in a picturesque coastal city in Southern Spain. Then then, Tuscany Village takes you to Tuscany, where beautiful vineyards then art masterpieces await you.

Where Is Balesin Island: Things To Do

Both villages are on the beach, but Balesin Village has by far the best beach. Each morning or late afternoon, you will enjoy digging your toes on the smooth, white sands and dipping in the water, whether you are going to the beach. Try a water sport or two at the Aquatic Sports Center to rent kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boarding, or diving equipment.

If you want to break a sweat, head to the Sports Center to play basketball, tennis, badminton, etc. You can also rent a mountain bike and use it in your own free time to explore it. You can also go to The Stables, where you can ride on horseback and galloping along the island trails.

But if you want to relax and heal from a tiring week, that’s all right. All villages have pools and jacuzzis where you can relax and have a fresh shake of fruit. If you need extra TLC, take a relaxing massage to the Balesin Spa. The Aegle Wellness Center is the only place in the Philippines to have thalassotherapy, natural therapy for weight loss, and detoxification using seawater components.

Food 

You will find these in Balesin ‘s main village clubhouse from Philippine classics such as tapa and lechón kawali. There are currently no Japanese or Korean villages, but in the same clubhouse is a well-known Japanese (Sakura) restaurant, as is a newly opened Korean Han Gang restaurant. Also, if you are not yet a member, head over to the EDSA cor Pasong Tamo Ext tower and try Sakura.

Moreover, if you’ve had tapas for breakfast and want some Nasi Lemak, take a stroll to Bali and taste some unique Bali dishes. If you can still handle it, get to know and try some Greek food in the nearby village of Mykonos, so that your food won’t sound like Greek the next time you visit the real Mykonos.

If you’re Spanish, Costa Del Sol is the location. Their paella is a must, and their other Spanish dishes are like that. When you only have one food on the island, this is a restaurant you will try.

If you’re looking for Italian (think Venice and the other Italian landscape), start eating in Tuscany and enjoy one of the many authentic Italian dishes. He is also a favorite of our kin, and their crepes are something special.

Consider fish fun in the aquatic center for those who want fun and dine. You can fish there for your food and have it prepared for you! If you wish to eat there for your meal without fishing, you should do it! Seek your seabass, your Lapu Lapu, or your lobsters or crabs!

If you think it’s too much, don’t forget that there’s still a Phuket village and a newly discerned place called Rico’s Hideaway, where you can enjoy BBQ / Mongolian fun while listening to some Reggae material.

Island Tour

It is a highly recommended activity for the first minutes, as you go to every village with a tour guide describing what you should expect and see. The tour guide will inform you about the island ‘s sustainability efforts and activities you can do or try restaurants.

The tour usually ends at 9 a.m., and the afternoon starts at approximately 2 p.m. Meeting is at the main clubhouse, and prior registration/schedule is required. There is also a private tour with a minimum fee of P3,000 pesos.

Golf Carts

In addition to being used as a means of transport, golf carts can be hired regularly only on weekdays. It can be used for fun or private transport across the island so that you do not have to wait for a bus. Golf cart levels include: P3,000, 2-seater; P3,500, 4-seater; P4,000, 6-seater.

Bikes

Either a mountain bike, a kiddy bike or a tandem bike can be rented for fun. The mountain bike and kiddy bike can be rented for 300 pesos per day, and the tandem bike is charged P400 per first 4 hours. The food trip was previously free for bicycles.

Shopping

Not much is to be bought except the ‘convenience store’ in the main Balesin clubhouse, which sells basic needs, including chips, swimwear, essential medicines, items related to hygiene, magazines, devices, and more.

By the departure terminal, you can buy souvenirs like shirts, caps, and more on Balesin Island.

Finally, the village of Ifugao is somewhere near the sports center. There you can buy authentic, artistically handcrafted Ifugao woodwork. They are also responsible, as an extension, for many of the works of art and furniture in the villages of the island. All proceeds go to them directly.

Swimming

This is one of the most popular activities on the island, as each village has its swimming pools and some even have jacuzzis on its side. The largest pool is possible within the main Balesin Club House, but the other pools are not that far away from being involved. 

Mykonos has an infinity pool, Phuket is famous for a black-tiled swimming pool, St Tropez makes you feel like you swim around the French Riviera with colorfully-colored umbrellas. You’ve got your Jacuzzi in your bedroom.

Beach

Yes, the beaches are here. The best stretch of beach is on the east side of Balesin, but in most villages, there are also small beaches. Do not swim after darkness. Many beaches are unmanned and unsafe because if you need help, no one can hear you.

Final Words

The Island of Balesin is exclusively for leaders and their friends. Yet don’t worry if you’re not a member or if you don’t know someone who is. The island is open for weddings, conferences, and events, so maybe you can convince your boss to coordinate your next business! Runners may participate in an adventure trail usually held in November. 

Unfortunately, the tenting of the fates of the sea on rainy days is not a very good idea. Fortunately, Balesin isn’t less fun to enjoy even though you can dive, swim at the pool, wakeboard, or surf off the list.
